You have to be careful because different countries have different laws regarding email and the use of email that is not solicited by the recipient. It is your responsibility to know whether emailing to unsolicited prospects is illegal. In the US, according to the Can-Spam Act of 2003, it is permissible to email unsolicited email as long as you have indicated that the email is a marketing piece, you put your contact information, you provide an unsubscribe link and you honor unsubscribes within 10 days.
