FAQ

If you are not familiar with the ins and outs of emailing, don’t worry. You are not the only one. There are three categories of emailers in the world and, unfortunately, most of them fit in the wrong category – spammers, marketers and noobs (inexperienced marketers). Common misconception – you do not have to be a spammer to be a bulk email marketer.

It is a common misconception that unsolicited email is illegal. You have to be careful because different countries have different laws regarding email and the use of email that is not solicited by the recipient. It is your responsibility to know whether emailing to unsolicited prospects is illegal. In the US, according to the Can-Spam Act of 2003, it is permissible to email unsolicited email as long as you have indicated that the email is a marketing piece, you put your contact information, you provide an unsubscribe link and you honor unsubscribes within 10 days. Simply search “is unsolicited email illegal” and you will get a wealth of technical detail. CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 – Wikipedia
